Not Alone 7. Where to begin? Here we are in the same universe, except now we've jumped ahead some years. Piper is now a teenager. Her powers come into greater focus as events unfold around the world which threaten humanity.One thing I love about this series is how Craig Falconer keeps you guessing. All throughout the book, there are new unsolved mysteries. Each time, you have your own idea as to what's happening. Then the author catches you by surprise with something you didn't anticipate.Another factor that I loved about Not Alone 7 was how Falconer incorporated his native Scotland and familiar places like Skara Brae. The detail of both the locations on Earth and in the fictional world of New Kerguelen are such that you would believe the latter is real.However, it is the characters who truly define this series. You can see how Dan, Emma, and Piper have evolved since Not Alone: Revelations. With each character, new and old, good and evil, you feel connected to their plots.I give this book a solid 5/5! This new Not Alone: The Awakening is amazing! I have read the first 6 books in the series, but this is a great new beginning! Intriguing from bringing you up to date, to a storyline that keeps the suspense from beginning to end.The nice part of Not Alone: The Awakening is that you do not have to read the previous books in the series. This book takes off on it's own. It is set about 12 years past where the others ended and really sets the stage for new intrigue, characters and sci-fi for a great new beginning.There are two new characters introduced, Sarah and Cerrick and they amplify the suspense.This book is a must read and you will easily be able to start with this new Not Alone: The Awakening and not be left behind. Craig Falconer does an excellent job of weaving in the past to make this a seamless read.The ending is a real cliffhanger and I can't wait till next months book release.
